Physician - Family Medicine

This position is responsible for providing direct health care services at Winona Health Services consistent with Winona Health and its affiliates' policies and procedures. The position is responsible for Family Medicine for Winona and the surrounding areas, including local skilled nursing facilities, the building of a consistent and productive practice through outreach and stellar service.

Provides competent and appropriate care to patients and residents using evidence based best practice clinical standards. All patient care is performed in accordance with national standards of professional practice and the standards of professional practice set out from time-to-time by accreditation and/or national organization standards, the Medical Staff of Winona Health, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the other appropriate governmental and regulatory agencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Documents all services provided to patients including observations, assessments, plan of care, treatment outcomes, and medical decision making. Follows provider documentation requirements for meeting quality measures and timeliness standards. (includes problem lists, medication reconciliation, clinical quality standardized work etc.)
• Actively participates in the performance improvement process. Establishes, monitors, and supports data collection and measurement systems through which opportunities are identified and, processes are designed, implemented, and audited to improve patient care and other organizational outcomes.
• Adopts new technologies and/or approaches to health care delivery as appropriate to support high quality care, patient satisfaction, and cost effectiveness. Encourages and provides opportunities for others to contribute to efforts to improve patient outcomes and patient and community relations.
• Assists in the development and implementation of new programs and services. May include evaluating community needs and the design of programs and services to meet those identified needs.
• Participates in third party payer programs as may be specified from time-to-time by Winona Health. Agrees to assign or reassign the Physician's rights to bill and collect all fees and charges from these programs. Participates in Blue Cross Blue Shield contracts, governmental programs including Medicare and Medicaid, and other third party programs and commercial insurance plans as identified by Winona Health.
• Actively participates in the medical staff organization including committees, initiatives, care process to ensure appropriate information, communication, and engagement in patient care processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for collaboration with Physician Assistant's and Nurse Practitioner's as needed for their support.

Skills and Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine. Demonstrates active participation in CME programs.
• Board certified/board eligible and licensed in Family Practice to practice medicine in the state of Minnesota.
• Meets all the requirements for credentialing for Winona Health Services and health plans associated with them. Meets all competencies as identified through credentialing.
• Basic computer skills. Word. Outlook. Patient information database (Cerner, EMR, etc.). Familiar with Information Technology Systems. Must be able to create, modify and manipulate documents using Microsoft Office applications. Must be proficient using Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar communications.
• Must be capable of utilizing the appropriate applications for the electronic medical record for accessing all patient records and writing/refilling all patient prescriptions.
