Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM seeks an Electrical Engineer, Power Systems Analysis specializing in power system studies for grid-interconnected and islanded power generation projects. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing comprehensive analytical studies that assess the performance and reliability of power systems. AECOM's broad technical capabilities, global footprint and experience in executing large scale projects uniquely position us to lead in traditional steam, thermal power generation and advanced nuclear technologies. This includes being a part of the first-of-a-kind program with AECOM partners advancing the innovative stellarator technology to the world.For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and extensive experience in electrical engineering, controls design, and power generation projects.The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:Responsible for the electrical engineering design work on assigned projectsServe as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsibility for deliverable developmentCoordination with the electrical design team to direct completion of engineering drawings (one-line diagrams, protection & control schemes, settings files, and metering/SCADA integration requirements)Perform steady-state and dynamic analyses, including load flow, short-circuit, contingency analysis, transient stability, frequency response, voltage stability, and motor starting.Conduct protection and coordination studies, relay settings, arc flash assessments, and grounding studies in compliance with applicable standards.Support interconnection applications including generator and inverter-based resourcesExecute islanded and microgrid analyses (black start, droop control, power-sharing, stability, protection, and resilience strategies).Develop and validate models (PSSE/PSLF/DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, PSCAD) and prepare comprehensive study reports and presentations.Evaluate and optimize solutions for renewables, battery energy storage, CHP, and conventional generation projects.Home office and field support of projects during construction, start-up, and commissioningPerforms quality control reviews of work developed by othersCollaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, controls, civil/structural, and construction) to integrate study results into design packages.Participate in project and client meetingsInteract with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractorsAssist with internal and external presentationsOccasional travel to client and/or project sitesDCS—EnergyAECOM’s Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to energy engineering, energy procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. We connect knowledge and experience across our global framework to bring together a unique combination of engineers, planners, scientists, and project managers who advance cleaner, secure, and more sustainable energy solutions.QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:BA/BS in Electrical Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationRelevant experience in mechanical engineering for power generation facilitiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Masters Degree in Electrical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for power generation facilitiesExperience in engineer and design of Combined Cycle Plants and Nuclear Generation StationsExpert familiarity with industry codes and standards (IEC, NFPA, NERC CIP).Experience with specifying electrical equipment and hardwareStartup and Commissioning Field ExperienceProficiency with power system modeling software packages: ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PSSE, DIgSILENT Aspen, etc.Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, BIM 360)Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projectsSuccessful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teamsAdditional InformationSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.Relocation is not available for this position.At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
