Senior Electrical Engineer

Description

SAIC is seeking an Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Crane, IN , in support of engineering, testing, and sustainment of radar systems employed by the U.S. Navy. The selected candidate will contribute to important projects supporting the development, maintenance, and documentation of systems critical to national defense.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

1. Software Development and Maintenance:

2. Modify and develop software to meet new requirements.

3. Develop instrumentation device drivers for new test equipment.

4. Update software to correct identified deficiencies and adapt to changing environments.

5. Develop software for one-time engineering tests and new testing techniques.

6. Assist in the development and support of test sets and tools written in MATLAB.

7. Lab-Based Testing and Hardware/Software Troubleshooting:

8. Perform maintenance and development of automated test set software in a laboratory setting.

9. Support daily production tasks, including data transfers and test data extraction.

10. Work with RF test and measurement equipment, such as RF sources, power meters, oscilloscopes, counters, spectrum analyzers, switches, pulse generators, arbitrary function generators, and network analyzers.

11. Learn and apply knowledge of testing microwave tubes.

12. System Administration and Configuration Management:

13. Manage paperwork and documentation associated with test set configuration management.

14. Perform limited system administration tasks such as computer updates, patches, and backup creation/storage for Microsoft Windows networks and standalone workstations.

15. Collaboration and Support:

16. Provide occasional technical support and travel to vendor installations, as required.

17. Work alongside team members to develop and maintain test set capabilities for radar systems.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.

• Skills:

• Proficiency in software and hardware troubleshooting techniques.

• Strong foundation in software development and programming languages such as HP/Transera BASIC and MATLAB (willingness to learn with provided training if needed).

• Familiarity with RF test and measurement equipment (e.g., RF sources, power meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).

• Ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance. Interim Secret required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with HP/Transera BASIC and MATLAB.

• Certifications such as COMPTIA Security+ and training in Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016/2019 environments.

• Knowledge of radar systems, microwave tubes, and test set configurations.

• Experience supporting electronics or radar sustainment projects for the U.S. Navy or other Department of Defense customers.
