About the Role A forward-thinking engineering and planning consultancy is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineer to join their growing team in Welkom, Free State . You will be involved in a diverse range of projects, including traffic studies, road design, public transport planning, and traffic impact assessments for both public and private sector clients. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work remotely, leveraging technology to collaborate with the team and clients. Key Responsibilities Conduct traffic volume studies, speed analysis, and capacity assessments. Perform traffic impact analyses for new developments. Design road geometric layouts, intersection improvements, and traffic control measures. Develop traffic management plans for construction projects. Analyze public transport operations and propose service improvements. Utilize traffic modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION) for analysis and design. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and design drawings. Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and other engineers. Liaise with municipal authorities and clients to ensure project requirements are met. Stay current with transportation engineering best practices and emerging technologies. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant post-graduate qualification is an advantage. Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in transportation engineering. Proficiency in traffic analysis and simulation software. Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and geometric design standards. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently and manage project tasks effectively. Familiarity with South African traffic regulations and standards.
