Job Title: Mammographer I Profession: Mammographer Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: ARRT(RT)(M) required within 1 year of hire Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire Must-Have: - Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT Description: The Mammographer I performs specialized breast imaging services to aid providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of breast conditions, defects, and/or diseases. This position is intended for those gaining experience as a Mammographer or experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Mammography. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments. Under general supervision, performs diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider. Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care. Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members including providers to provide exceptional patient care. Utilizes a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines. Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and aligned with departmental and accreditation standards. Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings, and prepares study for reporting by a physician. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and regulatory guidelines. Ensures that technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards. Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested. May support academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program. May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members. Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available. Performs other duties as assigned.
