4 Surgical is an 18 bed unit specializing in patients undergoing orthopedic, bariatric, and neurosurgical procedures.

The hospital is the leading joint replacement procedural area within UAB St. Vincent‘s, with world class orthopedic and bariatric surgeons who use the cutting edge of joint replacement, bariatric, and neurosurgery technology. This fast-paced unit specializes in quick turnarounds following surgery, with our dedicated nurses and physicians providing care that is guided by excellence and is centered on the needs of our patient population.

What You Will Do

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders. Assesses and coordinates patient‘s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required

Education: Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
