As a full time, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician with Optum/CPS at Central State, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; procuring drugs; and billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.

Schedule: This position will be scheduled 40 hours per week.

About the Facility: Central State Hospital is a state run hospital that operates under the Kentucky Division of Behavioral Health. This is a psychiatric hospital that works with adults who have severe mental health illnesses and need supportive treatment to help them regain control over the symptoms and struggles they're experiencing so that they can eventually reclaim control over their lives.

About the Pharmacy: The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday from 8 AM-4:30 PM.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Kentucky Pharmacy Technician license
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Proven effective communication skills, verbal and written

Preferred Qualification:

  • Behavioral Health experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
