We strive to give each person exposure to the widest array of experiences possible to help them grow further and faster than they could anywhere else.The Safety Director is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Gilbert Mechanical AWAIR Safety Program. The Safety Director is responsible for the workplace safety program and strong culture of safety. This position provides advice and guidance to company management as well as field employees in keeping the company compliant with the Gilbert Mechanical AWAIR Safety Program and other local authorities. The ultimate goal of the Safety Director is to create a zero injury working environment. This is done through creating an appropriate level of knowledge, awareness, and preparedness throughout the entire company regarding effective safety practices and balancing overall associated costs. The Safety Director will work with Gilbert Mechanical's safety consultant and safety committee in developing the safety program and initiatives. This position will also manage the performance and duties of Gilbert's Safety Coordinator, who is a direct report to the Safety Director. The Safety Director will report to senior management.Responsibilities:Order and maintain all personal protective equipmentHazCom management with GHS changes MSDS/SDS ManagementHazardous waste disposal management (light bulbs, batteries, mercury, circuit boards, coil cleaner, oil)New employee safety orientationTrain the trainer (Forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.)AWAIR Safety Program improvements and managementWeekly jobsite inspections and reports to project managersCoordinate and track: TrainingDisciplineToolbox TrainingSafety reward programAid in procedures for onsite operation (confined space operations, fall hazards, etc.)Lower key safety metrics Experience Modification Rate (EMR)Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART)Review job contracts for safety contentComplete safety questionnairesLead, organize, and document: Bimonthly safety meetings (meeting minutes)Semi-annual safety meetingsForeman safety meetingApply for safety awardsAccident/injury InvestigationDocumentationCorrective action plan follow throughManaging loss timeOSHA 300 LogSet-up and maintain drug testing programSet-up and maintain near miss reporting programInspection of all safety equipmentVehicle managementHandle theft, work comp, general liability, and vehicle claimsMain point of contact for all safety items/questionsDevelop strong safety cultureStay abreast of current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this positionOversee compliance with OSHA, EPA, DoT and other local authoritiesMaintain building safety Fire extinguisher inspectionsMaintain OSHA required postersWeekly eye wash inspectionsRequirements:Bachelor's or Master's degree in risk management, safety engineering, industrial safety and health, safety management, or closely related fieldSafety management experiencePrefer OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 certificationPrefer construction project management experienceAbility to multitaskGood interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tactUnderstand that safety is an important element of marketingPrefer certified first aid/CPR trainer statusSense of responsibility and ownership for projectExcellent customer service skillsUnderstand and follow protocol for the proper lines of communication (i.e. understand whom our contract is with)Clear understanding of Company mission and valuesAbility to work independently and as part of teamSelf-motivatingDetail oriented, organized, and results drivenCompensation: $100k-$130k, depending on experience
