Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000+ Base (Commensurate with experience) + Performance Bonus Potential

About Our Client We are conducting an executive search on behalf of an established, highly respected construction leader specializing in specialty trade, concrete, and commercial field operations across Nevada and expanding regional markets. Our client is not looking for a traditional back-office accountant who sits behind a desk all day. They are seeking a dynamic, operationally focused Controller / Construction Operations leader who wants to step out into the field, partner directly with ownership, and grow into the principal finance leader of the organization over time.

The Opportunity This is a high-impact, hybrid-style leadership seat that sits at the intersection of financial management and field operations (~75% Finance / 25% Operational Oversight).

In this role, you won't just manage the books—you will get out to job sites, shadow project teams, understand how jobs are bid (Time & Materials vs. Fixed Contract), and bridge the gap between financial reporting and field execution. You will serve as the executive right-hand partner to leadership, driving efficiency, capturing change orders early, and automating financial systems. What We Are Looking For

• Construction Financial Expertise: 5+ years of Controller/senior accounting experience in construction or heavy trades. Deep knowledge of WIP schedules, job costing, percentage-of-completion, and certified payroll.

• Operations-Minded Leader: Eagerness to go into the field to connect project operations directly to the P&L.

• Systems & Process Driven: Proficiency with construction ERPs and advanced Excel skills to automate workflows.

• Strategic Partner: Excellent communication skills with a track record as a trusted advisor to ownership.

Responsibilities

• Month-End & WIP Reporting: Lead month-end closes, bank reconciliations, and financial statements across main union operations and secondary entities. Maintain WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue, and job costing.

• System Automation & Process Improvement: Streamline workflows and leverage advanced Excel/system tools to automate WIP reporting, job costing, and month-end accuracy.

• Field Integration (25% Operational Role): Spend time on job sites (1–2 half-days weekly) shadowing teams to understand field operations, job flow, and material allocations firsthand.

• Margin Protection & Bidding Alignment: Learn T&M vs. Fixed Contract bidding models. Partner with superintendents to spot field variances early and capture change orders before project margins leak.

• Multi-Entity Financial Management: Oversee accounting across union operations, non-union expansion entities, and secondary affiliates (real estate, specialized licensing).

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and support a skilled, long-tenured 2-person accounting team managing AP, Certified Payroll, AR, billing, collections.
