We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accurate financial reporting and dependable day-to-day accounting operations in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This role will contribute to the integrity of the organization’s financial records by handling reconciliations, close activities, and compliance-related tasks with care and consistency. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee general ledger activity and keep financial records complete, organized, and accurate across routine accounting transactions.
• Prepare financial reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles, reviewing results to help ensure reliability and consistency.
• Support month-end and year-end close procedures by posting entries, validating balances, and resolving outstanding issues on schedule.
• Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and correct discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation, explaining account activity, and maintaining clear support files.
• Monitor adherence to accounting standards, tax obligations, and internal policies to help maintain regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to sales tax reporting and related filings by organizing data and helping ensure submissions are accurate and timely.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen accounting processes, share knowledge, and support a balanced, effective finance function.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience, with 3 or more years preferred.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and close processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas for analysis and account support.
• Experience using accounting software; familiarity with ERP platforms such as Oracle or similar systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of sales tax regulations and filing practices is preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
