Position Highlights
Position Summary
The Physician assumes responsibility and accountability for the provisions of primary health care and medical management of patients at the Hendricks Community Hospital Association. Physicians practice under the rules and regulations of the medical practice act of the state in which they work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical degree from an accredited institution of medicine.
Must have current licensure to practice in the state of Minnesota.
Must maintain continuing education requirements to keep up-to-date with changes in the field.
Must possess commitment to healthcare and concern for customers and patients.
Must possess knowledge of medical procedures and terminology. Must possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills with attentiveness to detail.
Must possess strong interpersonal/human relations skills with ability to respond to questions in a tactful and professional manner.
Must possess good communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, the physicians, customers, patients, and the general public.
Requires analytical skills and the ability to analyze and evaluate problems.
Must be able to implement and interpret policies and procedures.
Should be able to use common sense and be a fair judge of character. Must exhibit a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Good leadership, initiative and judgment skills.
Computer knowledge required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS :
Moderate physical work.
Near visual acuity for reading and preparing reports, forms, policies etc.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain emotional stability under stress.
Flexibility to handle changing situations and emergency needs.
Requires frequent talking, listening, reading, and writing.
Obtains medical histories and performs physical examinations.
Diagnoses and treats acute health problems such as infections and injuries.
Diagnoses, treats, and monitors chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies such as lab work and x-rays.
Prescribes medications and other treatments.
Provides well-child care, including screenings and immunizations.
Provides health maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals.
Promotes positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and counseling.
Collaborates with other physicians and other health professionals as needed.
Documents legibly and succinctly all patient care provided.
As appropriate, delegates to and directs nursing and non-professional health personnel in the delivery of patient care.
Works collaboratively with other health care professionals and agencies to provide, and where appropriate, coordinates services to individuals, families, and groups.
In collaboration with the Administrator, may participate in the planning and evaluation of nursing and medical care policies and procedures of the clinic.
Provides emergency room call for rotating schedule that involves evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Coordinates work flow with other team members to ensure a productive and efficient environment.
May be involved on organization committees.
Required to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and standards associated with but not limited to OSHA.
