Job Title: Electronics Technician

Job Description

The Electronics Technician installs, configures, and maintains complex electronic and security systems while ensuring high quality, safety, and adherence to industry standards. This role combines hands-on field work with detailed documentation, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and strict compliance with project schedules and technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret complete drawing packages to assess constructability, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and feasibility of installations.

• Verify correct charges in project timesheets and execute installation and maintenance activities within planned durations and budgets.

• Track and inventory tools daily, conduct consistent tool inspections, and perform end-of-day tool and equipment inventory for assigned assets.

• Participate in daily 10-minute Operational Risk Management (ORM) meetings and support full compliance with all safety requirements.

• Contribute to PITCO plan creation and build-out, executing the plan and performing testing to verify high-quality system performance.

• Install system raceways, cabling, equipment racks, enclosures, panels, and all mounting hardware components, ensuring proper grounding and adherence to NEC standards.

• Terminate, test, and configure electronic devices, network equipment, and IT equipment to meet project specifications and performance criteria.

• Rack and stack head-end equipment, perform cable terminations, and install accessories in accordance with applicable industry standards.

• Communicate consistently with project teams, demonstrating dedication, punctuality, and thorough preparation for daily work activities.

• Act as a collaborative teammate by providing and receiving constructive feedback with internal and external customers in a positive and professional manner.

• Plan and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and quality objectives while aligning with the organization’s vision, mission, and values.

• Survey and document existing field conditions, providing clear feedback and recommendations to the project team for design and implementation improvements.

• Perform troubleshooting on electronic and security systems, including wiring panels, running wires, wiring devices, and resolving issues using schematics and technical documentation.

• Support multiple customer programs and systems, adapting to varying technologies and site conditions as project needs evolve.

• Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned to support project and organizational goals.

Essential Skills

• At least 4 years of experience in electronics installation and/or maintenance activities across multiple systems and customer programs.

• At least 3 years of experience specifically focused on electronic security systems.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic systems, including the use of schematics to diagnose and resolve issues.

• Hands-on experience with access control systems, including wiring panels, running wires, and wiring devices.

• Ability to install system raceways, cabling, equipment racks, enclosures, panels, and mounting hardware with proper grounding and NEC compliance.

• Experience terminating, testing, and configuring electronic devices, network equipment, and IT equipment.

• Strong oral, written, and presentation skills to communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.

• Demonstrated experience working successfully with multidisciplinary teams.

• Proven time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

• Ability to accurately interpret and work from complete drawing packages and technical documentation.

• Competence in documenting existing field conditions and providing clear technical feedback and recommendations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Vendor certifications in multiple IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), ACS (Access Control Systems), and CCTV systems, including platforms such as Identiv/Hirsch Velocity, Bosch Radionics, Bosch CCTV, AIphone Intercom Systems, FFT, and DIVAR.

• Experience with Windows operating systems, including relevant certifications and hands-on experience in installation and configuration of associated systems.

• Graduation from an accredited Electronics Technician program or completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship program.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are a plus for reporting, documentation, and presentations.

• Experience participating in safety programs and ORM processes.

• Comfort working in a customer-facing environment and providing professional, constructive feedback.

• Ability to align daily work with organizational vision, mission, and values.

Work Environment

The role is primarily field- and site-based, working with electronic security systems, IDS, ACS, CCTV platforms, and related network and IT equipment. You will regularly handle tools, conduct daily tool inspections, and work with equipment racks, enclosures, panels, raceways, and cabling while adhering to NEC standards and safety requirements. The position involves participating in daily ORM safety meetings and following structured project schedules, which may include varying site conditions and customer environments. Work typically requires standard professional attire appropriate for field and customer locations, with additional safety gear as required by specific sites and tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $46.00/hr.
