Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, managing diagnoses including cardiac, pulmonary, GI, pain, infection, and unmanaged diabetes
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and utilize telemetry monitoring equipment, EKG machines, and lifepacks
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement — mandatory competency required for all RNs in this role
• Manage peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management (nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks), and isolation precautions
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate and operate bladder scanners and related unit equipment
• Float within scope to like units as needed (e.g., med/surg, stable ICU, acute brain injury with stable patients, ED boarders); PCTs are available on all units to support vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — must be in hand at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience (first-time travelers considered)
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement
• Every-other-weekend availability required; no more than 1 week of requested time off per contract
• Must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience with telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management in an acute care setting
• Familiarity with bladder scanners, lifepacks, and telemetry monitoring equipment
• Experience with block scheduling in a travel or contract nursing capacity
