Resident Care Associate

The Resident Care Associate (RCA) provides compassionate, resident-centered care while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life for residents in our assisted living community. This position requires teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to providing exceptional care in accordance with all federal, state, local, and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Compassionate, dependable, and professional.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Must maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
• Willingness to participate in emergency response situations when needed.
• Must comply with attendance policies and all company procedures.
• Provide quality personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
• Observe residents and promptly report changes in condition to the Resident Care Director or licensed nurse.
• Follow each resident's individualized care plan and document care as required.
• Assist residents with transfers, repositioning, and transportation using proper body mechanics and safety equipment.
• Promote resident dignity, independence, privacy, and rights at all times.
• Respond promptly and courteously to residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with skin care, repositioning, and incontinence care to help prevent skin breakdown.
• Report resident concerns, incidents, accidents, abuse, neglect, or safety hazards immediately.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
• Participate in required training, competency evaluations, emergency preparedness, fire drills, and evacuation procedures.
• Arrive to work as scheduled and perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and assist residents with transfers using proper equipment.
• Ability to work with elderly residents, including those with physical or cognitive impairments.
• Must be able to respond appropriately during emergency situations.

Health Requirements

• Annual negative TB screening as required by company policy and state regulations.
• Must meet all pre-employment and ongoing health requirements.
