About the Position

Job Title: Endoscopy Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Acute Care Duration: 22 weeks Shift: Four 9-hour shifts per week, scheduled Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: Shifts start at 6:30 AM, 7:00 AM, or 7:30 AM depending on assigned role Experience: One year experience in an Endoscopy environment as a Registered Nurse is required License: Client Registered Nurse Licensure is required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS are required Must-Have: One year experience in an Endoscopy environment as a Registered Nurse Description: The Endoscopy Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Endoscopy RN develops specialized skills in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions. He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical needs. The Endoscopy RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment. The RN applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care. He/She assesses patient and family needs through active listening and analyzing information obtained through observation, technology, or health team communication. The RN creates a developmentally and culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the identified health problems. In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team, the RN sets goals and monitors the patient’s progress. The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or changes in condition and prioritizes needs. The RN promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient. He/She encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. The RN teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks consistent with individual education, training, and scope of practice. He/She understands the responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. The RN motivates patients and families by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home. He/She assesses patient and family learning styles and structures sessions for maximum understanding. The RN provides tools and information to assist the patient’s family after discharge and documents the education provided and the response to it. He/She systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in practice and care delivery. The RN engages in self-evaluation to identify strengths and areas for professional development. He/She takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills. The RN uses logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions to problems. Nursing practice reflects the importance of making meaningful connections with patients and families. The RN seeks to develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship by being present during interactions, listening, communicating, engaging, and anticipating needs. He/She acknowledges that the patient and family are central to all care and services. The RN embraces the importance of creating a healing environment as a key element of professional practice.
