Role Overview
The Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow (CF-SLP) provides assessment, intervention, and case management services that support students' communication development and access to instruction. Working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist during the Clinical Fellowship year, this role partners with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver legally compliant, high-quality speech-language services that improve student outcomes.
In this role, you execute assigned work with quality and independence while practicing within the scope of your Clinical Fellowship and the supervision requirements established by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board and ASHA. You determine how to complete assigned clinical work and escalate situations requiring supervisory review or clinical consultation.

Core Responsibilities
Assessment and Intervention
- Conducts speech-language evaluations and analyzes assessment results to identify students' communication needs and inform educational planning under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Develops individualized therapy plans and implements evidence-based speech-language interventions that support measurable progress toward IEP goals.
- Monitors student progress and adjusts intervention strategies based on student performance and ongoing assessment data.
IEP Development and Case Management
- Prepares timely, accurate, and legally compliant evaluation reports and documentation that support eligibility determinations and educational decision-making.
- Participates as a member of multidisciplinary IEP teams by presenting assessment findings, explaining recommendations, and contributing to the development of communication goals and services.
- Maintains case management responsibilities for speech-only students, ensuring documentation, timelines, and service delivery remain compliant with federal, state, SELPA, and KIPP NorCal requirements.
Collaboration and Student Support
- Partners with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to integrate communication strategies into classroom instruction and daily learning experiences.
- Consults with educators and caregivers to recommend instructional supports and communication strategies that increase student access and participation.
- Supports professional learning and models communication strategies for school staff under the guidance of the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Professional Practice
- Maintains accurate clinical documentation, attendance records, Medicaid or state reporting documentation (where applicable), and student records.
- Participates in supervision, coaching, and professional learning activities that support successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship year.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills
Required Qualifications
Experience - Eligibility for or possession of a California Required Professional Experience (RPE) Temporary License to complete the Clinical Fellowship year. Clinical practicum experience conducting speech-language evaluations and delivering intervention services in educational or pediatric settings. Knowledge of speech-language assessment, intervention planning, and IEP processes.
Education - Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Eligibility to complete the ASHA Clinical Fellowship and California licensure requirements.
Knowledge/skills - Knowledge of federal and California special education law related to speech-language services. Ability to conduct diagnostic evaluations and interpret assessment data under supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families. Commitment to educational equity and KIPP NorCal's mission. Ability to travel between school sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese.
- Experience supporting students from historically underserved communities.
- Experience in a TK12 educational setting.

Driver's License - Must have a valid CA driver's license and access to reliable transportation for work-related travel
Physical Demands - Ability to navigate office and school campuses, use technology, and occasionally lift or carry materials up to 20 lbs.
Mental Demands - Ability to manage competing priorities, concentrate for sustained periods, analyze complex information, and make decisions under normal work pressures.
Environmental - Primarily school-based environment, with regular travel between school sites
