Title: Seat Design Release Engineer



Location: Plymouth, MI

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Design & Release Engineer (DRE) for automotive seating components.
• Design automotive seating component parts using CATIA V6 .
• Develop, validate, and execute seating system requirements for passenger vehicles, including cars and SUVs.
• Design, complete, and release seating components, sub-systems, and detailed parts such as:
  • Seat Back Frame
  • Cushion Frame
  • Foam
  • Trim
  • Plastic Components
• Collaborate with seat component suppliers to support vehicle development milestones, prototype builds, and production launch activities.
• Conduct feasibility studies and packaging analysis to ensure design compliance and manufacturability.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to optimize product design and production.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of seating systems that meet quality, cost, and performance targets.
• Possess a strong understanding of plastic and metal tooling, including design considerations for manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and development of automotive seating components.
• Hands-on experience with CATIA V6 for component and assembly design.
• Strong knowledge of automotive seating systems and Design & Release (DRE) processes.
• Experience with feasibility analysis, packaging studies, and manufacturing technologies.
• In-depth understanding of plastic injection molding and metal stamping/tooling processes.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
