This entry-level Lab Technician role supports a clinical biomarker laboratory within a Phase I clinical trial unit. You will work with human biological specimens in a regulated environment and gain hands-on experience in laboratory sciences and bioanalysis. The position combines laboratory bench work with desk-based responsibilities and offers an excellent foundation for building a long-term career in the laboratory field.

Responsibilities

• Process human biological samples and handle specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels, ordering laboratory supplies, and ensuring materials are properly stored and organized.

• Support equipment management by performing routine upkeep, basic maintenance, and coordinating service as needed.

• Conduct quality control review of laboratory data and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with laboratory standards.

• Maintain accurate records and audit trails, including documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks and other data systems.

• Provide general laboratory support, such as preparing work areas, organizing materials, and assisting with laboratory workflows.

• Perform administrative support activities related to laboratory operations, including data entry, filing, and documentation management.

• Balance a mix of laboratory bench work and desk-based responsibilities to support both experimental and administrative tasks.

• Follow sterile techniques and laboratory safety practices to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

• Collaborate with team members to support ongoing Phase I clinical trial studies and meet project timelines.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology, or a related scientific discipline.

• Approximately 1 to 3 years of laboratory experience preferred, ideally in a regulated or clinical laboratory environment.

• Basic laboratory skills, including accurate pipetting, sample processing, and safe specimen handling.

• Understanding of sterile techniques and standard laboratory safety practices.

• Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset when handling samples, data, and documentation.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while staying organized and meeting deadlines.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Teams.

• Ability to learn new software systems and electronic laboratory notebooks quickly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Interest in developing a long-term career in laboratory sciences and bioanalysis.

• Experience supporting clinical or biomarker laboratories is an advantage.

• Familiarity with regulated laboratory environments and audit-ready documentation practices.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with team members.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities during large study periods and peak workloads.

Work Environment

You will work in a regulated clinical biomarker laboratory that supports Phase I clinical trial activities and handles human biological specimens. The role involves a combination of laboratory bench work and desk-based tasks, including data entry and documentation in electronic systems. Standard working hours are generally between 8:00 or 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with occasional weekend support during large study periods, so some schedule flexibility is preferred. The environment emphasizes adherence to laboratory safety practices, sterile techniques, and accurate recordkeeping. You will use common laboratory equipment, basic lab tools such as pipettes, and computer-based applications including Microsoft Office and electronic laboratory notebooks. The position is initially offered as a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance, and the interview process typically includes one or two rounds depending on candidate volume.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
