Job Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. This role requires hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager. The Supervisor ensures safe and profitable operations, commercial compliance, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities and assure continuous improvement. Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues. Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable management of operations, equipment, and products, meeting productivity and service goals. Implement and report on ongoing cost‑saving measures and provide suggestions for more efficient operations. Meet all client‑specified KPI requirements and comply with quality system requirements. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create equitable programs for supervision, counseling, and discipline, and provide direction and support to Human Resources. Assist in hiring, training, and professional development; participate in performance evaluation and promotion recommendations. Take overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff. Plan the daily work schedule based on work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assess priorities and assign duties to appropriate staff. Review pending jobs or trends, reorganize warehouse space, and adjust staffing or equipment needs as required. Train new staff or delegate training responsibilities; assess progress and assign additional duties as appropriate. Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members as leads for lower‑level staff; keep manager informed of progress or problems. Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess overall status, discuss improvement ideas, and keep staff informed of new developments. Assist in physical operations as needed, deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time, and maintain high motivation for customer satisfaction. Provide ongoing development opportunities, conduct annual performance reviews, and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Skills & Abilities Education & Experience High‑school diploma or GED. Three (3) years’ experience in a logistics, distribution, or related environment. One (1) year supervisory experience. Preferred: Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations Successful completion of a forklift training program. Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with RF scanners and WMS functions. Language Skills English: reading, writing, verbal proficiency. Business communication abilities. Mathematical Skills Basic to intermediate level for verifying product quantities, inventory counts, or other related duties. Other Skills Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timely completion of tasks. Good organizational and personnel skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong leadership, supervision, and planning skills. Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights and weekends. Ability to cross‑train in multiple departments and serve as backup when needed. Ability to work overtime as required by business. Ability to work in warehouse temperatures that may range from mild to moderate. Physical Demands Bending frequently. Walking and standing constantly. Sitting and ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 11‑20 pounds. Reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel as needed. Work Environment The job is performed in a warehouse environment with low to moderate noise levels and minimal exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
