About the Role
The Company is in search of a Head of Engineering to spearhead a significant platform rebuild while maintaining a hands-on role in the codebase. This player-coach leadership position is pivotal in overseeing all aspects of the engineering organization, including people management, delivery, process, architecture, hiring, and ensuring a smooth transition from a legacy to a rebuilt production environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical leadership, establishing and maintaining clear technical standards, and making critical decisions regarding scope, sequencing, and technical trade-offs. Strong judgment and a practical balance between technical quality, delivery timelines, scalability, and business priorities are essential. Applicants for the Head of Engineering role at the company should have a proven track record in leading engineering teams and complex software development projects. The role demands a leader who is not only experienced in software architecture and system design but also adept at remaining hands-on with production code. Key qualifications include a strong background in TypeScript, modern web application development, AWS, and serverless architecture. The ideal candidate will have experience in large-scale platform migrations, managing production cutovers, and a deep understanding of databases, APIs, and scalable application architecture.
