What You'll Do:
- Provide specialized pediatric optometry services in a busy outpatient and hospital setting
- Conduct comprehensive binocular vision, strabismus, and binocular function exams with complex pediatric patients
- Perform contact lens fittings, including complex fittings for pediatric patients with special needs
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team supporting patients on the spectrum, with developmental delays, seizures, and facial abnormalities
- Utilize advanced imaging devices with the assistance of trained technicians
- Manage patient care from initial workup to follow-up treatments
- Document visits in Epic EMR system
What You Need:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
- CA state licensure in optometry
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with pediatric populations in medical settings
- Experience with pediatric vision exams and complex contact lens fittings
- Ability to handle patients of all cognitive abilities, including those on the spectrum
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
About the Assignment: This assignment involves providing expert pediatric eye care at a well-equipped outpatient and hospital facility in Oakland. The department handles a broad range of pediatric patients, including those with developmental disabilities and complex needs. Your role will include routine exams, specialty procedures, and contributing to the overall health of young patients in a supportive environment.
