About You Must be actively serving on U.S. Active Duty and within one year of your End of Active Service transition date. Position Summary The Operations Manager – Hauling directs collections activities for commercial, industrial, and residential customers, as well as container delivery and pickup, across a geographically dispersed area. The role leads a team of supervisors, dispatchers, clerks, drivers, and helpers, and works with the General Manager and other business unit leaders to execute strategy, improve operational excellence, and achieve budget objectives. Principal Responsibilities Hire, train, coach, and manage a staff of supervisors and support personnel; develop supervisory goals and ensure effective resolution of safety issues and claims. Execute plans that support the business unit’s strategic and operating goals; champion tactical initiatives to enhance customer experience, growth, and profitability. Optimize route management for commercial, roll‑off, and residential operations, set productivity goals, maintain adherence to operating standards, and control labor hours and disposal expenses. Interact with customers and local, state, and federal government employees to resolve service concerns and ensure regulatory compliance. Lead safety and accident‑prevention efforts, maintain a safe work environment, and implement loss‑control and safety programs. Ensure compliance with environmental, operating, regulatory, safety, accounting, and ethical standards. Approve expenditures and manage the operations department budget, including purchase orders and vendor pricing. Build a high‑performing team and workplace culture, share best practices, and foster strong relationships with government, community, and environmental groups.
