Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care on a medical surgical unit specializing in trauma. The nurse will manage patient care for diverse diagnoses, including trauma from various incidents. Ratios are approximately 1:4-6. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. The nurse will be responsible for blood product administration, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy. The role includes starting IVs, managing insulin therapy, and PCA administration. Experience with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, and total joint replacements is necessary. The nurse must have skills in wound care, chest tube management, and oxygen therapy. Familiarity with special equipment such as lifts, restraints, and wound vacs is required. This position requires floating within the service line as needed. All applicants must have experience with telemetry and managing medical emergencies. This role involves working with geriatric patients and those with acute care needs. Nurse collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential for patient care. Experience in a level I trauma center is preferred. The candidate must adhere to isolation precautions and standard infection control measures. Overall, the nurse will play a critical role in the recovery and management of complex patient cases.
