Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic (Grave Shift)

Job Description

This role is a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic position supporting a highly automated production facility in Wilsonville, Oregon on the grave shift (10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.). You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and help keep production running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration to ensure reliable operation.

• Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information from operators to accurately diagnose equipment problems.

• Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery to maintain optimal performance.

• Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and perform repairs as needed.

• Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear and determine appropriate corrective actions.

• Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters and other testing devices.

• Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy and safety of repairs.

• Reassemble equipment after inspections, testing, and repairs, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.

• Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.

• Troubleshoot and repair machine electrical and controls malfunctions, including 3phase motor replacements, photo eye adjustments, servo systems, machine timing issues, and circuit replacements.

• Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assist in assembling new equipment.

• Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators to support safe and efficient use.

• Record parts and materials used during maintenance activities and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.

• Collaborate with operators and other team members to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.

• Perform other tasks and special assignments as requested by management.

Essential Skills

• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

• 3+ years of experience in a relevant maintenance, mechanical, or electro-mechanical field, or completion of technical schooling in a related discipline.

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on motors, pumps, valves, boilers, hydraulics, conveyors, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.

• Experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting in automated or industrial environments.

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair 3phase motors and electrical control systems.

• Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment and automated machinery.

• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters and other electrical testing devices.

• Ability to read and interpret technical information from equipment and error messages to identify root causes.

• Solid understanding of basic robotics and automation concepts.

• Capability to perform mechanical repairs including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of industrial equipment.

• Experience with pneumatics and hydraulic systems.

• Ability to work independently on a grave shift schedule (10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) in a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in fields such as lube technician, automotive mechanic, technical military roles (wheeled mechanic, aviation technician, avionics technician), or semiconductor technician that can translate into industrial maintenance work.

• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.

• Welding and fabrication experience for repair and new equipment assembly.

• Production maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

• Familiarity with automation and robotics platforms, including systems from providers such as ABB and Siemens.

• Experience working with conveyors, compressors, and other high-throughput production equipment.

• Comfort working with PLCs and automated control systems in a production environment.

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with machine operators and maintenance team members.

• Attention to detail in documenting parts usage, maintenance activities, and repair history.

Work Environment

The role is based in a fast-paced, highly automated, clean food-grade production facility in Wilsonville, Oregon. You will work the grave shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., supporting continuous operations and responding to equipment issues as they arise. The environment features advanced production and bottling equipment, conveyors, compressors, robotics, automation systems, and PLC-controlled machinery. The facility maintains strict cleanliness and safety standards, and team members follow food-grade protocols, including wearing hair nets and face nets when applicable. The atmosphere is collaborative and focused on maintaining high quality and uptime, with ongoing equipment upgrades and modernization. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $33.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
