We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented TIG Welder / Senior Welder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive TIG welding experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to perform complex welding operations on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys.

This position requires a high level of precision, quality awareness, and technical expertise to produce weldments that meet customer specifications, dimensional requirements, and established quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings, setting up and calibrating welding equipment, performing structural and complex TIG welds, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform electric arc, inert gas, TIG (heliarc), and other welding processes in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Perform complex, specialized hand TIG welding, including structural welds and welds requiring root penetration, preheating, and stress relief.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to determine appropriate welding processes and requirements, including weld symbols.
• Weld components made of stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and specialty or exotic materials.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of wire and filler materials and their applications for various stainless steel alloys, aluminum, and other materials.
• Set up and calibrate welding power supplies using the appropriate welding programs, parameters, amperage, voltage, and other process requirements.
• Fabricate, join, and repair metal components, including piping systems, pipes, tubes, and structural shapes, using appropriate arc and gas welding equipment.
• Perform complex welding rework and manipulate components to meet print, fit-up, and dimensional specifications.
• Understand and maintain weld logs and follow applicable welding procedures and documentation requirements.
• Perform welding operations subject to inspection and testing requirements, including Magnaflux, X-ray, and pressure-tight testing, as applicable.
• Conduct regular inspections of welding equipment to ensure proper operation and identify maintenance needs.
• Plan and organize work, select appropriate tools, and maintain precise tolerances and established standards of accuracy.
• Use conventional and precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Work with welding fixtures, Acorn tables, and other setup equipment to achieve accurate and repeatable results.
• Inspect completed work and, when required, conduct process and peer inspections to maintain quality standards.
• Complete assigned parts and assemblies to established quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction requirements.
• Participate in Dakota welder certification training and work toward applicable welding certifications.
• Perform limited electromechanical (E/M) assembly duties as assigned.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all established safety procedures and regulations.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production schedules, labor standards, and customer deadlines.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma, preferably from a technical school, or equivalent technical education.
• Minimum of 6 years of related welding experience .
• Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with TIG welding.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
• Experience welding stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys.
• Knowledge of welding equipment setup, calibration, welding parameters, and filler material selection.
• Familiarity with weld logs, inspection requirements, and welding quality standards.
• Experience using precision measuring tools and instruments.
• Basic shop mathematics skills.
• Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications, Microsoft Office, and MRP/ERP systems.
• Forklift and overhead crane training or certification may be required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to:

• Sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms as required.
• Use hands and fingers to handle materials, operate equipment, and perform precise welding tasks.
• Communicate verbally and hear instructions, equipment signals, and workplace communications.
• Occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Use a two-person lift or appropriate mechanical lifting equipment for items exceeding 50 pounds.
• Meet visual requirements, including near vision acuity of 20/30 in either eye, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment, Hazards, and Personal Protective Equipment

This position operates in a manufacturing and welding environment where the employee may be exposed to:

• Welding arcs, sparks, heat, and welding-related hazards.
• Machine shop tools and manufacturing equipment.
• Compressed gases and mechanical or robotic equipment.
• Chemicals and solvents, including acetone and isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
• Occasional elevated noise levels.

Required personal protective equipment (PPE) includes:

• Welding helmet.
• Welding gloves.
• Additional PPE as required by the task and established safety procedures.

Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety policies, maintain awareness of workplace hazards, and use required PPE consistently.
