Registered Nurse (RN) / Emergency Department

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is accountable for providing high-quality care to patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and established hospital policies and procedures. This role requires critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and effective leadership to ensure the safe delivery of patient care in a high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and scientific judgment in anticipating and planning for patient care needs.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing continuing education and professional development.
• Delegate patient care priorities based on the education and experience of available staff.
• Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel in delivering patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant nursing experience required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
• Active nursing license in the state required.
• Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred.
• NIHSS certification is recommended but not required.

Additional Information

The facility is a Trauma Level III Certified center offering stroke and STEMI receiving capabilities. Nurses must be willing to float as needed.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, working three (3) 12-hour shifts per week.
