Security & Safety Officer

Traverse Outlets is seeking an individual who is detail-oriented, safety minded, takes pride in a strong work ethic, and enjoys working among the general public - our shoppers.

Security Officer will patrol the grounds and buildings of the Shopping Center. Performs a variety of tasks while working under general supervision. Reports any suspicious activity and maintains a security and safety presence while completing walking and driving patrols. Duties include assisting other team members with special projects, as needed. A friendly, customer service oriented skill set is expected working among the public and with other staff.


Wage $18.50/HR. Paid time off benefits; medical, dental, vision benefits (Option to enroll). 401K Plan and FSA Plan (Option to enroll).
Weekly Schedule: Monday-Tuesday 3PM-11PM; Wednesday-Thursday OFF; Friday-Saturday-Sunday 11AM - 7:30pm.

Must be at least 21 years old with 3 years driving experience and a valid driver license.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Protect the property both on foot and by vehicle, being visible and observant at all times.
• Maintain the security cellular phone and professionally respond to all calls for service within the Center.
• Ensure the safety, comfort and satisfaction of the shopping public by always exhibiting a professional and helpful attitude.
• Ensure critical areas of the property are monitored.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all security operations, policies and procedures.
• Document security activity using appropriate corporate and center security forms, always ensuring the work product is concise, accurate, and thorough.
• Assist the Security Supervisor and Security Director in implementing the center's Security work plan; assigned work activities, projects and programs.
• Perform all duties according to OSHA established health and safety standards.
• Comply with all Corporate and Security policies and procedures that pertain to the Center.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with store managers and employees on an on going basis to enhance the security and safety of all employees and the general public.
• Perform special projects or other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 0 - 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

• Valid Driver's License
• CPR and First Aide Certification (will provide if applicant does not have)

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Ability to effectively respond to issues both verbally and in writing.
• Requires a high level of commitment to customer service.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to identify and analyze problems with limited information, and then recommend a resolution.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences.
• Must be able to work independently and take initiative.
• Requires good organizational skills, attention to detail and openness to new ideas and procedures.
