Security Supervisor

Location The Watergate Hotel is centrally located in Washington, D.C., within walking distance of the city’s major attractions. General Duties and Responsibilities Manage daily security operations, including directing and assigning work to staff. Organize and maintain compliance with city mandating life safety requirements. Conduct, facilitate, and oversee meetings and training classes. Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs that meet management expectations. Audit safety procedures periodically across departments. Oversee staff management: training, meetings, performance reviews, and employment decisions. Prepare accident reports and conduct investigations within company guidelines. Participate in workers’ compensation management with Human Resources. Supervise modified duty programs. Ensure quality service delivery and maintain employee morale. Conduct pre‑shift meetings. Observe and evaluate subordinate activities daily for performance rating. Counsel subordinates to improve performance. Respond to emergency situations, making critical decisions to protect guests, visitors, and employees. Provide leadership to ensure efficient department operations. Facilitate continuous improvement through training, mentoring, and development. Serve as first contact for emergency agencies (police, fire, etc.). Fill open vacancies for special details and department needs if required. Complete daily paperwork. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Transcribe information from handwritten memos and recordings. Participate in hotel programs such as operations meetings and lobby greeter program. Support the needs of a diverse clientele and building tenants. Train, mentor, supervise, and develop officers. Notify management of major incidents during the shift. Manage VIP details with discretion. Experience and Requirements At least 2 years of supervisory experience in hotel security. Must possess a high school diploma. Must meet the physical demands: walking/standing for extended periods, lifting 50+ lbs, climbing stairs, outdoor work in adverse weather. Must accept a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Must be proficient with mandatory computer systems for the department and hotel operations. Must communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Must remain calm under pressure and in stressful, multicultural environments. Must handle sensitive situations respectfully and diplomatically. Must coordinate safety emergencies with local authorities. Must organize, develop, maintain, and improve safety programs.
