Civil Design Engineer - Land Development

Overview Otero Engineering is an established civil engineering firm focused on land development projects throughout the Tampa Bay region. We are a small, collaborative team where engineers and designers work closely together, communicate directly, and remain actively involved in projects from due diligence through construction. We are hiring a Civil Design Engineer to take ownership of technical production on land development projects. This role is open to experienced Civil Designers, EITs, and PEs who want to stay technically engaged in the work. Successful candidates will work directly with firm leadership and participate in all phases of project development, from initial due diligence and site planning through permitting and construction. What You’ll Do Prepare site, grading, drainage, utility, erosion control, and stormwater plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D Assist with engineering calculations, stormwater reports, and permit submittals Build and maintain surfaces, grading networks, pipe networks, and profiles Prepare and respond to agency review comments Participate in due diligence investigations, site planning, and feasibility evaluations Deliver coordinated, technically sound, and buildable plan sets with minimal direction Coordinate directly with project managers, agency reviewers, and consultants Mentor and support junior designers and engineers What You’ll Bring Land development experience Familiarity with Florida permitting processes and Tampa Bay reviewing agencies is a plus EIT certification or Florida PE license is a plus Civil Engineering degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered Strong attention to detail and a habit of producing clean, coordinated plan sets Ability to take ownership of production work with limited supervision What We Offer Real ownership of your work in a small, collaborative firm Direct access to firm leadership and involvement in every phase of the project lifecycle Competitive salary commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus structure Employer-sponsored retirement plan with company contribution Medical and dental insurance Paid time off and holidays, increasing with tenure Company-sponsored social events and team outings Opportunity for long-term professional growth At Otero Engineering, you won’t be narrowly assigned to one project phase or one project type.
