Histology ProfessionalLabCorp is seeking a Histology Professional to join our team at Henry Ford St John in Detroit, MI.Work Schedule: Shift 1, Monday - Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm; Rotating weekendsJob Responsibilities:Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slidePerform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sectionsProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special proceduresReport accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient careOperate and maintain manual and automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as neededMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology1 years or more of experience in histologyPreferred Qualifications:Histology and/or ASCP certifications1 years or more Immunohistochemistry experience1 years or more of experience working in a high volume laboratory environmentAdditional Job Standards:In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirementFamiliarity with routine histology procedures and equipmentComfortability embedding both large and small specimensAbility to accurately read all labels and documentsHighly organized with a strong attention to detailFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocolsAble to pass a standardized color blindness testWe are seeking Histology Professionals to join the LabCorp team where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services.
