Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse

Shift: Day Shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, call 7 days per six weeks, 3 weekend days

Hours per Shift: 36

Experience: Two (2) years of acute care RN experience

License: Registered Nurse

Certifications: BLS, ACLS

Must-Have: Acute care nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, care plan implementation, care plan evaluation

Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.


The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.


The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit.


The RN promotes his/her own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.


The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.


The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.


The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.


The RN applies his/her educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.


Key responsibilities include:

Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.


The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.


Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.


The RN reviews and revises the plan as indicated.


The RN collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services.


The RN utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization/patient/family.


Evaluation: Monitors and documents patient response to clinical interventions.


Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs.


The RN ensures education is appropriate to the care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge.


Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.


The RN functions as a mentor/preceptor and demonstrates teamwork.


The RN identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.


The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.


The RN implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards.


The RN participates in the Practice Governance model.
