Compensation: Up to $200K base (with flexibility for exceptional candidates) + Benefits

The Opportunity

Career Staffing Talent (CST) has been retained to lead a confidential search for a hands-on Senior Financial Controller on behalf of a high-growth healthcare distribution organization.

Our client distributes healthcare products directly to patients nationwide. This is not a maintenance seat—it is a builder's role. Following a recent transition to NetSuite, the business requires an operational accounting leader to fully build out the platform, modernize AP and AR from a largely manual state, and drive absolute inventory accuracy across three distinct affiliated entities featuring meaningful intercompany and balance-sheet complexity (without consolidation).

Because the CFO operates in a fractional capacity, this role offers unusual visibility and autonomy. For the right operator, it serves as a credible, direct runway to a CFO position.

What You'll Own

• End-to-End Close & Reporting: Command the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple affiliated entities. Prepare US GAAP financial statements and deliver strategic variance commentary to the CFO.
• Systems & ERP Build-out: Spearhead the NetSuite configuration and optimization; maintain the chart of accounts and GL structure.
• AP Modernization: Eliminate current AP backlogs and error exposure by designing a standardized, automated workflow with robust controls.
• AR Transformation: Build an automated invoicing, collections, and dispute resolution engine from the ground up to replace legacy, memo-based processes.
• Inventory & Operations Partner: Master the product flow from receiving to fulfillment. Partner closely with warehouse, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure physical inventory is flawlessly reflected in the ERP. Own inventory accuracy, adjustments, write-offs, and shrinkage reduction as a core deliverable.
• Audit & Controls: Act as the primary liaison for external auditors and CPA firms, maintaining year-round audit readiness. Design strict controls across ordering, receiving, and inventory, and manage Florida state and sales tax nexus considerations.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a team of five finance professionals. Instill a culture of urgency, accountability, and meticulous documentation.
• External Relationships: Own key vendor and client relationships regarding payment timing and dispute resolution; support the CFO on diligence and banking relationships.

How Success Is Measured

Your impact will be judged on operational outcomes, not just reporting metrics. While close timeliness and audit readiness are the baseline, the leading indicators of your success will include:

• Inventory Accuracy: Significant reduction in cycle-count variances and shrinkage.
• Process Efficiency: Elimination of AP errors and backlogs.
• AR Automation: The percentage of receivables successfully moved onto a formal, automated process.
• Systems Optimization: On-time delivery of defined NetSuite implementation milestones.
• Control Implementation: Documented, automated process coverage across AP, AR, and inventory controls.

Note: The initial evaluation period is tied to the completion of these defined operational milestones, not tenure.

The Ideal Candidate

• 10–15 years of progressive accounting experience, including deep controller-level ownership.
• Proven, hands-on experience personally implementing or migrating an ERP (not solely overseeing an implementation team). NetSuite strongly preferred.
• Strong technical accounting foundation: US GAAP, complex close processes, financial statement preparation, and hands-on audit management.
• Demonstrated track record of fixing AP/AR processes and building controls from scratch, ideally within a business featuring physical inventory or warehouse operations.
• Experience in distribution, wholesale, or other inventory-intensive industries is a significant advantage.
• Comfort navigating multi-entity and intercompany accounting in balance-sheet-heavy, PO-driven environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate financial requirements to non-financial staff (warehouse, purchasing, fulfillment).
• A self-starter with the drive to operate with limited oversight, execute initiatives to completion, and progress toward a CFO role.

Work Environment

This position is 100% on-site in Davie, Florida. Expect to divide your time between desk-based financial strategy and a regular presence on the warehouse and operations floor. The pace is dynamic, set by close cycles, audit timelines, CFO reporting deadlines, and operational turnaround goals.
