Licensed Veterinary Technician - Companion Animal Clinic - Fairfax Station - VA

Position Overview Seeking an experienced, full‑time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join Companion Animal Clinic in Fairfax Station, VA. The clinic is a five‑doctor practice practicing gold standard medicine. This position is full‑time and offers compensation ranging from $30.00 to $35.00 per hour based on experience, credentials, and skillset. Schedule Requirements Monday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Surgery Technician) Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Thursday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Off when working Saturdays) Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Surgery Technician) Every other Saturday (required) Day in the Life Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures while maintaining efficient workflow. Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia and vitals during procedures. Support dentistry procedures including cleanings, radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery. Provide nursing care for hospitalized and recovering patients: medication administration, monitoring, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy. Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples for laboratory testing. Operate diagnostic equipment: digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, and in‑house laboratory analyzers. Maintain accurate medical records, treatment logs, and patient documentation. Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients about treatment plans, updates, medications, and post‑operative care. Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care and maintain a positive culture. Support and mentor veterinary assistants and newer team members when needed. Skills & Requirements Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Virginia preferred; RVT/LVT/CVT licensed elsewhere with ability to transfer to Virginia within 6 months. Strong experience in surgery, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and treatment flow. Proficient in client communication and multitasking in a busy hospital setting. Solid knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, terminology, and patient care standards. Capability to compassionately handle and restrain animals, including fearful or stressed patients. Proficiency with veterinary software and medical documentation. Physical ability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.
