Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.Position OverviewThe Field Service Technician II performs intermediate-level installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of power transformers and high voltage substation equipment. This role supports field operations by performing hands-on tasks including transformer assembly, oil processing support, gasket and bushing work, component inspections, and basic electrical and mechanical testing under limited supervision.ResponsibilitiesFollow company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements; participate in all safety meetings and training.Perform intermediate level field work including LOTO, grounding, arc-flash protocols, and site preparation.Assist with transformer electrical testing by supporting diagnostics, data collection, and proper test setup.Operate dry air equipment and support moisture control processes during transformer assembly.Measure, cut, and install gaskets and sealing components.Assist with transformer internal work such as inspections, fastener adjustments, and component support.Support vacuum setup and operation during transformer processing activities.Oversee rig operations during overnight or extended shifts, ensuring safe and compliant performance.Assist with installation and commissioning of monitoring devices such as Calisto or other condition-monitoring systems.QualificationsRequired:Two or more years of experience in transformer services, substation work, or electrical/mechanical field maintenanceHigh school diploma or GEDValid driver's license and insurable driving recordAbility to stand, walk, climb, crawl, bend, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.Ability to work safely in outdoor, high voltage, and industrial environmentsWilling and able to travel frequently (up to ~80%), including overnight stays and variable schedulesWillingness to complete job-related background checks and medical evaluationsAbility to communicate clearly and follow written and verbal instructionsPreferred:CDL or interest in obtaining oneNCCCO crane certification or rigging/lifting experienceWorking knowledge of mechanical fundamentals and industrial toolsFamiliarity with substation hazards, LOTO procedures, grounding, and arc-flash boundariesAbility to read or willingness to learn to read electrical diagrams, one-lines, and field metering devicesInterest in learning transformer testing, oil-processing support, and advanced proceduresWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Outdoor field work with exposure to weather, energized equipment, and industrial conditionsVehicle and air travel, extended stays, and occasional international travelReasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individualsEEO StatementNASS, an Asplundh Power Company, is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
