Position Summary
The Production Data Specialist plays a key role in maintaining accurate production records, validating data, and supporting manufacturing operations through analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality, engineering, supply chain, and leadership teams to ensure data integrity and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Enter job details related to materials, operations, job status, and labor activity in the ERP system.
- Record inventory transactions, cycle counts, and adjustments.
- Correct labor/time entry errors from the shop floor.
- Partner with supervisors, leads, and managers to validate and correct data inconsistencies.
- Review job data for accuracy and completeness prior to job completion.
- Identify inconsistencies in routings, BOMs, cost rollups, and master data.
- Assist with analyzing material usage trends, variances, and inventory discrepancies.
- Perform root-cause analysis on MES production data errors affecting production or delivery.
- Interpret shop floor data to identify labor or machine bottlenecks.
- Utilize BAQs, dashboards, and analytical tools to detect shortages, overdue jobs, and data issues.
- Generate daily & weekly KPI reports for leadership.
- Run accuracy and exception reports to ensure data integrity.
- Collect production records from each department and enter them into the system.
- Maintain records of part locations throughout production.
- Receive and confirm subcontract purchase orders; issue materials to jobs and ensure proper part labeling.
- Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, supply chain, finance, and customer service to resolve data concerns.
- Serve as a data liaison supporting continuous improvement through insights and trend analysis.
- This role does not include supervisory duties.
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of office experience preferred, ideally in manufacturing, production control, data administration, or supply chain.
- Highly organized; able to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy.
- Experience with quality systems or root-cause analysis.
- Familiarity with ERP, M.E.S., or production data systems.
- Ability to read/write simple instructions and correspondence.
- Comfortable with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and basic statistical reasoning.
- Ability to solve practical problems and identify data errors.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must have working knowledge of common office software.
- Must be willing and able to learn new systems and tools as needed.
- Regular sitting while working on a computer.
- Frequent speaking and hearing for communication.
- Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Must have close vision and ability to adjust focus for data review.
- Moderate noise level.
- Open office environment with high activity, phone calls, and foot traffic.
- Report safety hazards immediately.
- Report any incident involving injury, illness, or damage.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Refuse unsafe tasks.
- Participate in safety training.
- Stay aware of personal and coworker safety at all times.
