Field Commercial Underwriter - Florida
Commercial insurance carrier with an excellent reputation is seeking a skilled Field Commercial Underwriter to support new and renewal business for agents, increase the company’s presence in the territory, and help drive profitable business. This production-oriented underwriter should be able to build relationships with their agents and identify accounts while promoting the coverage options available. This role is hybrid with time in-office and time in the field.



 
Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal commercial business within Florida; visit agents and develop relationships
• Analyze submissions, approve or deny coverage based on risk, while identifying new business opportunities
• Conduct regular agency meetings; educate agents on product offerings virtually and in person
• Make underwriting recommendations on coverages, limits, pricing, and terms
• Rate and process new business, renewals, endorsements, and inspections
• Professionally represent the company at agency meetings and industry events

 
Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial underwriting insurance
• Background working with an insurance carrier or wholesaler (MGU/MGA)
• Strong commercial underwriting acumen and relationship-building skills
• High-energy, personable approach to client interactions
• Self-motivated with passion for the insurance business
• Technical proficiency in Commercial product lines
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
• Willingness to travel (30-50% travel required)
