Job Title Operational Database Administrator – Intermediate – Infrastructure Computing Job Summary Responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of enterprise database systems. They ensure server security is up to date, perform routine backups, and design and implement tests to address data access issues. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of experience in computer science, information systems or database experience. Certifications Epic DBA certification or industry standard database certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Technical expertise in the maintenance and administration of enterprise database systems. Responsibilities Work within the UMMC Service desk ticketing system Monitors database environments Provides technical knowledge in the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of enterprise database systems Identifies and resolves database problems within application environments Works with ODBA senior staff on projects and database implementations Identifies and resolves performance bottlenecks and related performance issues Physical and Environmental Demands Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
