Registered Nurse Telemetry

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Float RN) provides skilled nursing care across multiple units including medical-surgical, telemetry, and cardiac step-down. This role involves floating to various departments to meet staffing needs, delivering patient-centered care, and occasionally assuming charge nurse responsibilities on small units. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality care and effective patient management in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment. A minimum of US-based nursing experience and charge nurse experience is required. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in medical-surgical, telemetry, and cardiac step-down units.
• Float between units to support staffing needs and maintain patient care standards.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios varying from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on unit acuity.
• Assume charge nurse duties on small units, including staffing coordination, bed flow management, and general unit coordination.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license valid in the United States.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in US acute care settings.
• Charge nurse experience, particularly in small unit settings.
• Strong clinical skills in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with cardiac step-down or critical care patients.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Experience working with ER boarded patients.

Special Considerations:

• Charge nurse responsibilities are limited to small units staffed by 1 2 RNs.
• Must confirm contract terms with manager prior to acceptance, especially for 48-hour workweek contracts.
• US nursing experience required; Canadian experience alone is insufficient.

Scheduling:

• 4 shifts per week, each 12 hours long (07:00 to 19:30).
• Shift assignments based on institutional needs and floating requirements.
• Start date is ASAP.
