Instructional Designer

JOB SUMMARY

The Instructional Designer provides support to both faculty and students for curricular content delivery. This individual provides guidance on instructional and assessment modalities as well as assists with the design and implementation of the MD curriculum. This role serves as an educational advisor to faculty and committee members; collaborates with faculty and students on education research; collaborates with ITS to identify and implement education technology solutions.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with the design and delivery of instructional programs, products, and strategies on curriculum design, development, and evaluation to faculty, curricular committees, and the University community through workshops; and other technologies Collaborates and consults with faculty on the effective use of electronic and Web-based resources, multimedia technologies, artificial intelligence, and instructional software and systems to improve teaching both online and on-campus; assists in the planning, development, and teaching of faculty and staff workshops and other activities that promote teaching, learning and assessment in areas related to learning strategies, instructional technology, and student learning outcomes; conducts individual training and coaching for faculty to meet instructional design and development learning opportunities and needs; creates and maintains documentation for faculty and staff on pedagogy, course design, tools, and techniques for teaching and learning Collaborates with ITS to design, develop and deploy new education technology in support of medical education Promotes the use of educational best practices in content delivery, evaluation, and assessment; supports scholarly projects and medical educational research with Undergraduate Medical education; reviews the education literature for new practices and new ideas applicable to medical education Serves as an education advisor on multiple committees; participates in meetings, supplying data and resources; writes, edits and collaborates on reports and materials produced; performs other duties as assigned Designs, develops, tests and uses University resources to deliver MD program assessments and instructional materials for students, courses and faculty Assists faculty to improve curricular materials, incorporates new delivery methods and increases student satisfaction; designs and delivers instructional programs, products, and strategies on instructional design, assessment, and program evaluations to faculty, curricular committees, and the University community through workshops; instructs staff on the use of Learning Management System (Canvas), Panopto, LearningSpace, the NBME portal, Audience Response System (Poll Everywhere), TBL system (InteDashboard), OASIS, Scantron Remark, Examplify, Banner and other computer applications Researches and evaluates new and emerging academic technologies, instructional design theories, and approaches and policies for potential application to instructional opportunities; conducts data analysis; produces, distributes, and present educational reports Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of instructional design principles, curriculum development, and learning assessment methods. Knowledge of educational technology systems including learning management systems such as Canvas and instructional tools like Panopto, Poll Everywhere, and Examplify. Knowledge of multimedia, web-based learning tools, and emerging technologies used to enhance instruction. Strong analytical skills in educational research, data analysis, and program evaluation Strong written and verbal communication skills for developing reports, documentation, and training materials Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, committees, and information technology teams Ability to evaluate and implement new instructional technologies and educational best practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or another educational field Three years or more of related working experience #J-18808-Ljbffr Saint Louis University
