Program Specialist - Animal Care and Safety Committee Care Coordinator

Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Conducts assessment of laboratory animal use and safety proposals, ensuring compliance with Office, VA, and regulatory (USDA, OLAW, etc.) policies and determines when requirements of approval have been met and issue approval documentation.
• Plans, prepares, and schedules meetings.
• Oversees committee-meeting schedules to ensure the presence of a quorum.
• Develops meeting agendas and maintains confidentiality of committee records.
• Manages and prepares responses to a wide variety of correspondence on behalf of the organization.
• Schedules Committee meetings and provides agendas and background information.
• Maintains all paper and electronic files in the office and retrieves needed documents, reports, and messages.
• Evaluates responses from investigators to analyze whether there is a complete and detailed response to committee concerns.
• Resolves remaining problems and discrepancies identified by committee members, initiates resolutions with investigators, and forwards the responses to the committee or designated reviewers for approval.
• Organizes reports for presentation and records minutes for meetings.
• Updates research SOPs.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
