Emergency Department RN

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency room setting, evaluating patient outcomes and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient management. This role requires quick learning, proactive teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure in a busy rural hospital emergency department. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to emergency department patients.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust nursing care plans accordingly.
• Consult and collaborate with other healthcare specialties as needed.
• Coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care with the health team.
• Maintain proficiency with electronic medical records system (Meditech) for documentation and communication.
• Adapt to changes in a busy emergency department environment and support department expansion initiatives.

• Current Vermont or compact multi-state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience.
• Ability to quickly learn and use Meditech electronic health record system.

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.

• Work in a rural critical access hospital with no public transportation access.
• Must be able to work effectively in a busy, nine-bed emergency department seeing over 15,000 patients annually.
• Credentialing must be completed at least five business days prior to start date to avoid delays.

• Night shift schedule in the Emergency Department.
