Location: Johnstown, PA
Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, responsible, energetic, and self-starter Controller who is detail-oriented, diligent, and technically strong in all aspects of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is a strong analytical thinker with curiosity to understand the “why” behind the numbers and can bring both accountability and clear communication to the team.

The Controller is responsible for leading the accounting functions, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and providing accurate, timely reporting. This role requires above-average attention to detail, a concern for correctness, and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Operational:

• Timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting documents for multiple entities.
• Analyze financial results and notify the CFO of irregularities, trends, or major budget variances.
• Maintain the integrity of the accounting system in compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Recommend and maintain financial procedures to support sound management decisions and fiscal control.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for account balances, including bank reconciliations.
• Verify all expenditures are properly approved and justified in line with company procedures.
• Prepare and submit sales tax reports and payments.

Organizational Planning & Management:

• Provide management with financial insights vital to operational and strategic decision-making.
• Monitor reports and recommend ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Assist in preparing the annual operating and capital budgets.
• Maintain open communication across departments and subsidiaries to foster teamwork.
• Support financial projects assigned by executive leadership.
• Assist with modernization of backend accounting systems, including electronic and digital payment processes.
• Facilitate data extraction and analysis using databases, software systems, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 1–3 years of private accounting experience
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in financial systems and Excel
