Start your day reviewing a service bulletin you helped author. By mid-morning, you’re on a customer site guiding a distributor’s crew through safe rigging and the first-time erection of a new Potain tower crane model. That afternoon, you’re on a video call walking a technician through a complex electrical fault, schematic in hand, multimeter at the ready. As a remote Tower Crane Commissioning & Technical Support Engineer, you’ll be the trusted expert assisting distributors and end users in rigging, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing Manitowoc/Potain tower crane products. You’ll report to the Technical Service Manager based in Shady Grove, PA, while spending much of your time with customers where it matters most—on the job site.

• Deliver aftermarket service support for Potain tower cranes both on-site and via phone/video, resolving technical issues quickly and safely.
• Guide distributors and customers through installation, commissioning, repair, modification, and problem resolution, including hands-on rigging support.
• Lead first-unit training for distributors and customers on the erection and maintenance of new model cranes; provide ongoing technical coaching.
• Maintain strong distributor relationships across parts, service, and warranty, coordinating actions closely with the department manager.
• Analyze field reports to spot patterns that inform future design, production, service, and maintenance improvements; recommend technical fixes.
• Administer Service Bulletins and Product Improvement Programs (PIPs), ensuring accurate communication and execution in the field.
• Collaborate with Product Service Managers on vendor negotiations and coordinate with legal, product safety, and reliability teams regarding PIPs and bulletins.
• Work with MCG personnel to align on service materials, product requirements, and applicable code compliance.
• Plan and lead investigations into customer-reported issues, applying structured processes to prevent recurrence and reduce operational downtime.

• Solid knowledge of crane mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical/electronic controls; broad understanding of crane operations.
• Fluency in reading and applying schematics.
• Hands-on skill with a multimeter, laptop-based diagnostics, internet tools, and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to obtain and use a personal credit card with a minimum $5,000 limit exclusively for extended travel and business expenses.

• Clear, professional communication—both written and verbal—paired with strong organization and time management.
• Decisive troubleshooting and sound problem-solving under pressure.

• Associate degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, heavy equipment distribution, or customer service; or a High School diploma and at least 9 years in the same areas.

• Comfort working outdoors on cranes in all weather while performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and disassembly/assembly.
• Ability to climb and work at heights up to and exceeding 300 feet.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

International and domestic travel up to 80% is expected. You must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. passport.

This is a remote role reporting to the Technical Service Manager in Shady Grove, PA.
