Registered Nurse - Women's Services PRN (7pm-7am)

Womens Services Nurse

Provides direct patient care in the Womens Services department. Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other staff about patients clinical condition including but not limited to results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology. Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patients condition. Additionally, is cross trained to perform general nursing duties in other departments and may be asked to do any reasonable job duty within scope of practice.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Assess patients in triage for preterm labor, active labor, rupture of waters, pregnancy complications, or co-existing issues
• Assist in maintaining pregnancy in antepartum mothers
• Fetal assessment and monitoring
• Maternal physical assessment(s)
• Manage patients in labor, including induction assistance, epidural assistance, pain management, education, and delivery support
• Assist and circulate in operating room for cesarean sections, tubal, and emergency obstetric and gynecological procedures
• Medication administration and immunizations
• Patient education related to medications, labor, pushing, delivering, and postpartum care of mother and baby
• Newborn care and assessment for healthy infant
• Breastfeeding and postpartum support/management
• Charting via electronic medical records
• Assist with fetal demise
• Collaboration with care management team, including anesthesiologist, physician or midwife, lactation nurse, and charge nurse

Experience requirements:

Six months nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Licensure / certification requirements:

• Current Texas RN license or RN Compact licensure and current CPR certification required.
• ALCS Certification required or must be obtained within first year of employment.
• Departmental requirements are as follows:
• Womens Services Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Fetal Monitoring and STABLE required or obtained within first year.
