Job Title: Custodian

Full-Time Non-Exempt Wage: TBD

Level: 7

General Definition:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment in all assigned tribal buildings by performing assigned custodial and maintenance tasks. Excellence in service to all tribal members and guests is expected.

Supervision Received: Maintenance Director

Supervision Exercised: None

Essential Job Functions:

Cleaning and Sanitation

• Sweep, mop, vacuum floors in all designated areas.

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks and floors

• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners

• Dust and wipe down surfaces, including tables, chairs, and countertops

• Clean windows, mirrors and glass surfaces

• Maintain cleanliness in common areas such as lobbies, hallways and meeting rooms

Maintenance

• Report any needed maintenance or repair needs to Maintenance Director/Assistant Director.

• Assist with basic maintenance tasks as needed or assigned. Duties may include replacing light bulbs, and minor repairs.

• Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stocked, stored and properly maintained

• Maintain an accurate inventory of all cleaning supplies and equipment.

Safety

• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures

• Ensures all cleaning chemicals are used and stored safely

• Responds to any spills or hazards promptly to prevent accidents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• 1-2 years of custodial experience preferred

• Must excel at customer service and time management.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Able to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks as required for this position.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Previous janitorial or cleaning experience preferred.

• Strong attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

• Able to prioritize duties and multitask.

• Able to apply common sense while working.

• Able to work efficiently (either independently or in a team environment) to complete tasks in a timely manner..

Licenses/Certifications/Other:

• Current valid driver’s license.

• Must be able to pass an adjudicated background check as a condition of employment.

• Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result.

• Positive verifiable references and work history.
