About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years preferred License: SC license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred Must-Have: - Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Telemetry experience - Epic charting experience - Skills in insulin management, rapid response, and telemetry Description: Position available for a Medical Surgical RN on a night shift schedule. The shift will consist of 4 shifts of 12 hours each, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:6 but may flex to 1:7 in case of unplanned absences. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. On-call duty may be required on an as-needed basis for low census situations. Travelers may need to float to other units as needed. Experience in the role is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years in a Med/Surg setting. First-time travelers are accepted. Successful candidates will possess experience with Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and telemetry units. Knowledge of insulin management and rapid response protocols is essential. Epic experience is a must for charting. The unit typically cares for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical surgical diagnoses. There may also be involvement with telemetry monitoring facilitated by central location techs. Keep in mind that during hurricane season, staff may be assigned to emergency response teams.
