Registered Nurse 2 (RN2) Full-time, Permanent position at Washington Corrections Center (WCC), Shelton, WA. Schedule: Friday – Tuesday, 06:00 – 14:30. DOC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for Washington Corrections Center located in Shelton. Shift Differential Shift Differential: $2.50 per hour for evening and night shifts. Additional premiums may apply: One dollar ($1.00) per hour for work from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Three dollars ($3.00) per hour for work from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight. Facility Overview Washington Corrections Center is a close‑custody facility that processes, tests, and classifies adult male incarcerated individuals. The facility has seven living units and can house over 1,700 inmates, with about 500 screened and assessed monthly. WCC serves as a hub for transfer of individuals to and from facilities statewide. Duties Deliver health services that promote healing and support coping with various health conditions. Screen, assess, and evaluate incarcerated individuals and their conditions. Respond to all health care requests promptly, clinically appropriate, and therapeutically. Delegate and supervise work, monitor, manage, coordinate, and deliver health care. Plan transitions, make referrals, and arrange follow‑up when patients are transferred or return to the community. Assist patients in improving the ability to care for themselves and their families. Provide counseling, consulting, teaching, advising, and health information that enhances quality and safety. On‑Call Requirements Work all shifts (day, swing, graveyard) including weekends and holidays. Willing to work a minimum of 10 shifts per month. Provide written availability by the 10th of each month. Complete paid three‑week correctional worker core training (Mon‑Fri, 8:00 – 16:30). Qualifications Unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as an RN (or an unencumbered multi‑state Compact license with required Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey). One year of experience as an RN. Training by American Heart Association in Healthcare Provider CPR. Proficient with computer‑based programs for scheduling, monitoring, data entry, word processing, and email. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Important Notes Compliance with federal I‑9 employment eligibility verification. Not using E‑Verify; cannot extend STEM‑OPT. Minimum of three professional references required. Background check will be conducted. Work in potentially hazardous setting; pre‑employment drug test required. Exposure to pepper spray (OC) and animal programs – applicants with sensitivities advised to inquire. TB screening required within 60 days of hire. Must have required medical evaluation for respiratory protection per WA Industrial Safety & Act. Physical requirements: ability to work in spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, lift up to 30 lb (occasionally up to 50 lb, push up to 100 lb).
