This is a full-time position. Responsibilities Pre-Operative Complete pre-operative patient assessment, health history review, and vital signs Verify surgical consent, H&P, labs, and orders are complete Initiate IV access and administer pre-op medications per orders Educate patients/families on procedure expectations and post-op care Confirm surgical site marking and correct-patient/procedure verification Coordinate timely patient flow to OR Post-Anesthesia/PACU Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia (vital signs, airway, pain, level of consciousness) Manage post-operative pain control and nausea/vomiting per protocol Assess for surgical complications (bleeding, neurovascular status for ortho patients, e.g., checking extremity circulation/sensation/motion post-joint or extremity surgery) Apply/monitor orthopedic-specific post-op devices (slings, braces, ice/cryotherapy units, CPM machines) Educate patients and caregivers on discharge instructions, weight-bearing status, wound care, and home mobility precautions Determine readiness for discharge using standardized scoring (e.g., Aldrete score) Coordinate discharge planning, including durable medical equipment and mobility aids #J-18808-Ljbffr Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance
