L.I.F.E. is a non‑profit organization serving children and adults with developmental disabilities in the East Valley. We are currently looking for a Music Therapist that support our mission and vision and treat our learners with love and respect and treat each learner as a whole. New graduates are also welcome as long as they have the heart and the desire to learn how it is to be a Music Therapist. At our facility, you will have the opportunity to work closely with SLP's, OT's, PT's, special education teachers, and BCBAs. This is a Full‑Time Music Therapy position -- Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm (or similar hours) -- 32-40 hours This position pays $23.00-$29.50/hour, commensurate with experience. Level One Fingerprint clearance card, CPR/First Aid, Article 9 certification. Understanding of Social Skill Deficits; Understanding of Developmental Milestones; Understanding of Maladaptive Behaviors Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for following all L.I.F.E. policies and procedures as detailed in the L.I.F.E. Employee Handbook and the Therapy Manual. Responsible for evaluating, developing, implementing therapeutic goals and interventions while addressing the needs of children with developmental disabilities as outlined by the DES-DDD. Complete evaluations by interviewing the family, perform direct observation, and determine what is required of the consumer within their environment. Maintain necessary parent contact with families to ensure appropriate music therapy program delivery. Willing to collaborate with other members of the treatment team. Provides consultation when needed to the team regarding recommended practices and needs for music therapy services. May plan and conduct in‑service activities in the area of music therapy. Execute group music therapy sessions for DTA Adult Program. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining a successful learning environment as outlined by the Key’s to Behavior or in a formal behavior plan. Adhere to the L.I.F.E. Language policy by using Person First Language, You Can Language, Do Language, Varying Praise, Behavior Specific Praises, and utilizing Declarative Language. Pass all fidelity checklists at 80% or better. Highly encouraged to supervise music therapy interns and new graduates. Timely with daily notes, billing, and quarterly reports and assist with selecting and ordering adaptive equipment and evaluation tools. Ensures that all incidents are recorded within 24 hours using our Incident Reporting Policy. Self-motivated, possess high energy, and good moral character. Staff are expected to be able to utilize our water environments with clients as needed as part of their programming. This includes the use of our swimming pool and splash pad. Staff should be able to swim and must be comfortable in these environments. They are directly responsible for the oversight of their clients in these environments and must discuss with their supervisor if accommodations would be needed for them during these times. Performs all duties safely and prudently as directed by the Director of Therapy Services.
