Role Description The Data Manager at Ecopetrol is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of operational and business data. On a day-to-day basis, this role designs and maintains data management processes, ensures data integrity and quality, and coordinates data collection, storage, and accessibility across teams. The Data Manager collaborates with business and technical stakeholders to define data standards, document data definitions, and support reporting and analytics needs. This role monitors data governance compliance, troubleshoots data issues, and recommends improvements to data structures, tools, and workflows. The position requires effective communication, clear documentation, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.\n
Qualifications

• Experience with data management, including data collection, storage, validation, and maintenance.

• Knowledge of data quality practices, data governance principles, and metadata management.

• Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, BI tools).

• Ability to document processes, data definitions, and workflows in a clear and structured way.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across remote teams.

• High level of attention to detail, organization, and time management in a part-time setting.
\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

• Experience in the energy or industrial sectors is beneficial but not required.
